For Webware, a web development course at WPI, my partner and I created a front and back end web-app that uses both the Spotify API and the Google Maps API to allow users to create a collaborative Spotify playlist and view song data for their selections. We wrote the back end server in Node.JS that sends requests to Spotify with a users authentication token. The data that Spotify sends back contains values on song popularity worldwide, that we then send to Google Maps to make a chart. Later, for the 2019 Wentworth Institute of Technology Hackathon, I delved deeper into the capabilities of this data collection by writing a program to automatically sort a spotify playlist in terms of the songs musical data: danceability, speechiness, instrumentalness, acousticness, energy and valence.

In my Sophomore year of college, my friend and I participated in a hackathon at Wentworth Intitute of Technology. We created a website that uses Javascript to simulate climate change in the U.S. over 5 years by adjusting the percentages of automobiles, factories and farms in the country. We researched the average needs for these three categories in each state as well as average temperatures and other variables. We then created an algorithm to calculate the estimated change in air temperature in each state as a result of changing the categories. The website is interactive as you can adjust the sliders to indicate whichever values you desire.

The new world of computer graphics is a growing and limitless pool of creativity. In my time in college so far, I have learned to use many graphical rendering software and libraries that allow someone to create something that is truly out of this world. Some of the libraries I've used are WebGL, Three.js, and Pixi.js.

In my Human Computer Interaction course, I created a virtual environment in a browser using the AFrame libraries. This virtual environment is our solar system. It was cool to see how shapes can easily be rendered an animated in realtime and how the technology in our hands can be capable of creating digital spaces. In this simulation, you can click and drag the mouse to move your view as well as use WASD to move.

I started making this website as a side project over the summer before my Junior year. I wanted a web portfolio to display all of my experiences and projects as a sort of resume. I had some previous web development experience but I wanted to improve it by learning tools such as bootstrap or SASS. As the site grew bigger, I got more advanced with the components that were included. Building this website has increased not only my skills in web development, but my interest in persuing the field of web development as a career. This website is hosted using GitHub Pages with the domain that I purchased. The source code is public and can be found here.

My friends and I decided to create a game in Unity for a Hackathon. None of us had ever created a game from scratch before and wanted to rise to the challenge and delve into unknown areas. We spent the hackathon learning C# and photoshop to create scripts and sprites and even did some sound mixing for the gloups. Alone is an arcade style point and click. You play an astronaut who has been abandoned in the vastness of outer space...alone. Aim and shoot at the gloups traveling towards you to kill them before they kill you. With each shot of your gun, you are propelled backwards. For instructions on how to run, read the included README.txt.

In my first year of college, I created a small game with a group of peers. We used GameMaker, a software designed to create games, to write the scripts, load the sprites we created and piece together all of our ideas. This top-down adventure game is about a new Freshman at WPI, who has just gotten their lanyard and wants to explore the campus. Everything goes south when they step on the seal. Gompei goat is kidnapped by the evil Doctor Racket and must be saved! Fight your way through the N.R's (failing grades) and level up your abilities to face him in an epic battle.

For Technical Game Development, I created my own game engine from scratch, going off of the Dragonfly engine. I implemented the graphics, audio, system, and input event handlers and put it all together to form an entire engine that was capable of making games. The final project for the class was to make a game using the engine we had created. A friend and I made this game Ire-iterum, the latin words for "go again". This ascii graphical platformer has the player jumping through obstacles, racing against time and fighting with their reflexes to finish the levels no matter how many times they have to go again. Over the summer of 2016, I attended a two week program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. I was able to take college level courses, including Interactive Media and Game Design. For the duration of my time in this class, I made a level for the game: Unreal Tournament. It is used for the Capture the Flag game mode, where players on two teams fight to get the other team's flag to their side. The Unreal Engine that Unreal Tournament runs with, is a game making software that has helped to produce many popular games including Rune, BioShock, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. To design the three towers in my level, I used the 3D modeling software: Autodesk Maya. I was the only one in the course to go above the expectation and use external software in making my level.
